What is chair massage?

Chair massage is performed in a specially designed chair with your clothes on. No oil or lotion is applied.  It is focused on the back, shoulders, neck, arms, and head.  It is designed to relax the muscles and improve flexibility and circulation.

Who can benefit from chair massage?

Chair massage is perfectly suited for a workday break from long hours in-front of a screen, typing, standing or driving.  The shorter duration is easier to fit into your day between meetings or errands and still provides many of the benefits of a full massage.  A chair massage can help spark creativity, reduce pain, anxiety, tension and stress, boost immunity, prevent or alleviate repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and improve sleep.  Chair massage is great for clients who prefer not to undress or have sensitivities to oils and creams. It is also well suited to clients who cannot lie down for a massage due to medical conditions.

What can I expect from a treatment or a series of sessions? What do I need to do to

prepare for it?

Your session will begin with a quick review of your intake form and goals for your customized treatment.  You will be ergonomically seated in a specialized adjustable massage chair, with your face resting in a cradle. Your face will be looking down towards the ground, while your arms rest on a special shelf.  Your therapist will use a mix of compression, kneading, acupressure, percussion, joint mobilization, and stretches while you relax in a fully supported position.
